Investing in children’s healthy nutrition

Back to Press releases
The Nestlé for Healthier Kids Programme (N4HK) recently partnered with the Mossel Bay Municipality to teach over 300 learners from St Luke’s Primary School about the goodness of healthy nutrition and physical activity.

The school learners took part in cooking and food preparation exercises conducted by a trained nutritionist, while some participated in a spectacular dance called SokaFit and various sporting codes including rugby, soccer, netball and basketball.

N4HK is presented in schools under the auspices of the global N4HK, which is endorsed by the Department of Basic Education’s (DBE) National School Nutrition Programme (NSNP). N4HK was officially launched in May 2018 at the DBE and it aims to teach primary school children about the importance of healthy nutrition and physical activity as part of a balanced lifestyle.

Through this collaboration the DBE aims to enhance the learning capacity of learners through the provision of a healthy meal at schools. Where it is implemented, the programme has shown to improve punctuality at school, regular school attendance, concentration and the general wellbeing of participating learners.

“At Nestlé, we believe that by helping new generations to learn how to eat well, drink water and take part in physical activities, we are enhancing quality of life and contributing to a healthier future,” says Nestlé Public Affairs Manager, Monako Dibetle.
