Voluntary recall of a specialty soluble coffee range in 100g glass jars

Back to Press releases

20 May 2010, Johannesburg: Nestlé South Africa announced the voluntary recall of its ALTA RICA, CAP COLOMBIE and ESPRESSO soluble coffee range – specialty varieties of Nescafé - contained in a specific type of 100g glass jar with a distinctive plastic sleeve. It was discovered that some of these jars may be susceptible to breakage during the delivery process to customers and may contain small pieces of glass.

The quality and safety of our products is a non-negotiable priority for our company. Consequently, as a precautionary measure, we have decided to voluntarily recall this specialty range. We will be changing the packaging format before we reintroduce this coffee range to the market.
Consumers in possession of these products are urged to call Nestlé South Africa’s Consumer Call Centre on 086 009 6116 (South Africa) or +27 11-8896116 (Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and Swaziland).

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and we would like to reassure our consumers that none of our other coffee products are affected.
